The Audi Coupe GT was produced as an executive compact car; a tamer, front-wheel drive, version of the famed Audi Quattro.  Sold in the US market from 1980-1987, it was updated to the Audi 90.  The Audi 4000 has the distinction of being the first production car with an inline 5-cylinder engine. In 1996, Audi phased out the series 90 and replaced it with the Audi A-4.

This one-owner vehicle was purchased new in 1983 by Karl Rogers who was attending medical school in Chicago, Il.; It was his first car. In 1987, Mr. Rogers moved to Nashville. He continued to drive the vehicle for 29 years and 199,000 miles. Mr. Rogers stopped driving the car and decided to donate it to the museum. He has commented on its great handling and reliability.

In 2004 the car was restored by Ross Restorations in Franklin, Tennessee.
