With the release of the Type D in 1949, Soichiro Honda had little idea that he would completely change the motorcycle world in just a few short decades.
In that same year Honda hired Takeo Fujisawa to oversee the finances of the company and help them expand. In 1959, Honda Motorcycles opened its first dealership in the United States. By the 1970s, the company had become a billion-dollar, multinational corporation that produced some of the best-selling motorcycles in the world. Honda’s engineering and marketing skills resulted in their motorcycles outselling Triumph and Harley-Davidson in their respective home markets.
Lane Motor Museum is proud to commemorate 75 years of Honda motorcycles by showcasing significant models from our collection.
